winter morning
Jan. 15th, 2007 08:53 amCold cold cold. The city is freezing up. It's snowing up near Waco. Holiday for everyone, because I can't imagine that anyone wants to drive. Hopefully no one I know has to go into work today. Driving here in this weather is cracked, as we are always unprepared. Anyhow, the morning is beautiful in that cold sort of way, with white trees and the ever green live oaks moving in the wind.
They have closed the flyover from Mopac to 183, and are telling everyone not go driving. I support this, even though I want a hamburger really bad. Argh.
There was an eight car accident at 183 & McNeil this morning, but no one was seriously hurt. The entire northbound side of the highway is shut down though. Many, many years ago when I was young the free way was just four lanes with stop lights between 620 and 35. I spent the night at my friend's house, and we snuck out late at night to go wandering up the corner where the stores were. I can't remember if we had any real purpose that night. There is a Shortstop hamburger stand in the parking lot up there. We could see the flashing lights from Barrington, and climbed up on the metal staircase on the back of the hamburger place so we could have a better view. There was a multi-car accident in the middle of the night at the light. We were just far enough away for us to be spared the gore, but I remember an officer covering something with a sheet that I can only presume was a body. Strange. I had not thought of that moment in years.
My fucking damned noisy upstairs neighbor. I really don't need to hear this at nine in the morning.
