we're still cold
Jan. 18th, 2007 01:15 pmI was fooled by the relatively decent state of the road by my home this morning. Though I did fear the giant flying pieces of ice whipping off cars driving fifty miles an hour. That is really scary. I don't want to know what would happen if one of those foot long pieces hit my windshield. 183 was a total nightmare, access road and freeway alike. There's still a ton of ice on the elevated parts of the road. I saw a couple accidents, and dodged more flying ice. In the course of driving to work I discovered there is no way for me to get to work without crossing four different bridges minimum. I've been trying to think of a way to get home that does not involve bridges, and I'm stumped.
This winter cold business was fun for about one day. I'm tired of it now. At least I got out of the house yesterday. The apartment complex has sort of kind of removed most of the broken tree from the driveway out. I went out for dinner last night, and things were still rather icy in spots. My gloves remain slightly damp from the soaking they got yesterday. The cold makes me feel stiff and creaky, and all I want to do is take a hot shower and climb into a warm bed.
With luck, most of this unpleasant weather will go away in the next week. (I can hope anyways.) I'm going to plan a Texas Kolach road trip or two. Yes, yes, I know. I am probably one of five people on earth enthused about driving for three hours to sample delicious pastries. But Texas is beautiful, kolach are divine, and it has been too long since I did something that combines some of my favorite things. I'm going to sit down with a map, plot out some courses and see how many little Czech bakeries I can find.
My day is sadly not metal. It's a little brutal, but not metal. Dude, why did no one enlighten me to the hilarity of Metalocalypse before last night? Seriously. The wiki entry informs me that they are putting out an album. This I must have, to listen to while I drive to work. Skwisgaar Skwigelf is totally my rock star crush of when I was say, fourteen. I laughed so much, especially to a reference to Sandusky Ohio. HAH!
