Yesterday there were puppies. Lots of big, fuzzy puppies. They are getting so big. One is going to live in Arizona, one is going to be living on a big farm with a pond, and one is going to live with the owner of a very successful winery out in California. I look forward to one day having a big German Shepard around the house again. I miss that. Also, there were cookies. It was a good evening.

Also!

I have to be only of a very small number of people in the world whose mother named her dogs after characters from Firefly and Harry Potter. My mother named her puppy River, which I think it hysterical. She's a sweet, sweet dog, but my mother will teach her the skills to be a ninja killer dog. The black puppy has been named Draco. He is demanding and very, very lovely.

pistachio salad at last

I have at long last learned how to make one of my most favorite foods ever. Also, HEB is selling a premade version of this in the deli section, so even if I am too lazy to mix things in a bowl, I can still revel in my delicious bizarre food heritage.

Pistachio Salad

- 1 box pistachio pudding mix
- 1 tub of Cool whip
- about a cup of miniature marshmallows
- about a half cup of chopped pistachios and/or walnuts
- one can of crushed pineapple bits

Combine pudding mix and pineapples. Fold in Cool Whip, marshmallows and nuts. Refrigerate.

(no subject)

I almost stopped on my drive home at the home of a friend. After yoga class I'm so relaxed I am almost unrecognizable. The twists and things we practiced today loosened out all my back, which hasn't happened in who knows how long. Tonight's sky is incredibly clear, and the stars shine with vigor. The air smells like dirt, wildflowers, that cold almost aquatic whiff of darkness and it was cold on my bare arms.
