of all the things we belong
Jun. 19th, 2007 08:36 amYesterday I had the oil changed in the car, contemplated the hybrid Saturn Aura, ate a mediocre hamburger and fries, and went to hang out with Sarah while she packed. I was a helper monkey. I wrapped some glasses, carried things, cut up a box, kept an eye on the tape gun, etc. Packing up apartments is depressing as hell. We found a bunch of change in one of her wall decorations, and I can only imagine some drunk person at a party tought it was a change bowl. We figured out how to put together the wardrobe boxes. Later on we had dinner with Mike and Tyler at Magnolia Cafe. I finally remembered to give Sarah the snarky fridge magnets we got her weeks ago.
Mostly I spent a lot of time trying not to cry, or be an emo mess. Sarah's one of my very best friends, and we understand each other. I'm trying hard not to think about what it will be like this weekend when she isn't here. But Sarah is way cooler than me. She's moving cross country to start a job and learn a new city, and scandalize conservative archival matrons throughout the South with her Kerry bumper sticker.
My friend Kevin called me back last night. He's coming to Texas this summer because his family is moving away to Chicago. (only with Kevin does that make sense) He told me a lot of crazy stories, which I plan to incorporate into my current work of fiction. I made him promise to come visit me, because I miss my friend. He might actually finish his PhD next year.
