Things I have learned recently:
- marshmallows interfere with the cooking time of brownies.
- cheese people are made of soylent green
- Melynda's cheeseball is still the best and only cheeseball I will eat
- I have an incredibly random assortment of friends that works surprisingly well together

Now if only I could add people like [livejournal.com profile] rm, [livejournal.com profile] daysprings, and [livejournal.com profile] kythryne to the mix. I need that teleportation device right now. I could have the best parties EVER. Mwuhahah. But really, it went well and I was so terribly nervous that no one would come and I would sit there with lonely cookies and it would be a disaster. ([livejournal.com profile] alteredhistory thought the party was next weekend! I would have been sad not to see him and [livejournal.com profile] freznor, because they are fun.) We really should have made [livejournal.com profile] melyndabelinda drink [livejournal.com profile] colmmcsky under the table because that would have netted me $50, and someone really should have played some Soul Calibur with me. I am a fighting game ninja after a couple drinks. My new friends [livejournal.com profile] contrail and [livejournal.com profile] silvanis did not suffer any sugar induced comas after visiting for the first time.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] brienze made the most awesome antipasto plate ever. She has wicked presentation skills. There were meats and cheeses and peppers and olives and omg prosciutto wrapped around little bread sticks and tomato slices with mozzarella and more! It was seriously fabulous. She also made the cheese cracker people who were tinted green to be soylent, just to amuse [livejournal.com profile] frostwalrus. (He was the one requesting a soylent green appetizer.) Though I admit his green dipping sauce was delicious. Plus there was cheeseball, brownies, cookies and pie. It was the awesome.

So thanks everyone for coming, it was super fantastic like a Japanese game show. There was geek talk, WoW talk, political talk, fandom talk, lots of REALLY bad jokes (especially after [livejournal.com profile] kevinblanchard showed up) and much merriment.

(How weird and 21st Century - every guest has an LJ account. This is one of the things that makes recent LJ crazy so hard for me. It really is the hub of my social wheel.)

Anyhow, I managed to clean up some before passing out on my sofa. (Sorry Kevin!) I do have leftover cheeseball and olives to eat for breakfast. I drove out to my mother's house this morning to visit her and the animals. The puppies are huge. Draco must weigh nearly 70lbs by now. He's gigantic. They were all chasing a squirrel up and down the fence line. Three rolling, leaping German Shepard puppies is a pretty adorable sight. The kitties were all especially affectionate this morning. I think they knew I missed Rachel something fierce. It was the first time I went over where I didn't hear her plaintive meow. Julie at the clinic made a little plaster impression of her paws, and painted it in calico colors. It was a very, very kind thing to do. It's like an ornament, so I'll hang it up in my library when things are all sorted out.
