home again

We left early today because Mike wasn't feeling well. He was a bit feverish and I think he didn't sleep too well. He's mostly asleep on the sofa now, with Koshka watching Sopranos.

Friday night we drove down to Magnolia to visit my family there. It was good. My grandfather and Mike really seem to get along well. my grandmother really wanted to go shopping, so it was an epic, several hour trip to the Woodlands mall. (I was deeply amused to see that kids don't change too much, because I saw several that could have been copies of my fourteen year old self in black tshirts and bluejeans.) My grandmother loves to shop. It is a prominent aspect of my memories, all the way back to being very young and doing the back to school routine. She thoughtfully got me some new shirts, new jeans, some exercise clothes and a new pair of lovely black oxfords. I need to find myself a new pair of tennis shoes - I've no idea what happened to my old ones. I saw a pair just like Tyler's fancy ones but they didn't have them in my size. maybe i can find a cheap pair at DSW.
