playing catch up
May. 21st, 2008 09:53 pmMy air conditioning is out AGAIN. My bedroom is 85 degrees at 10 at night. So full of rage.
My order from Loreto arrived recently. I choose the custom perfume option where she sends you a brief questionnaire and blends something up for you off that. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely pleased. It came very quickly, and in lovely packaging. The perfume itself is extraordinary, and combines disparate elements I love. From the description card: anise, lemongrass, honeysuckle, ginger, lotus, cedarwood, rose, carnation, neroli, vanilla, ylang ylang, poppy, sandalwood. It veers from the citrus-y spicy note to the smooth floral vanilla combination, all without being overwhelming or overly floral. I'm in love with it and the unlikely combinations.
Training for the new job and work paperwork happened tonight. one o the guys I met is a regular staff writer for Television Without Pity! Awesome. I hate to admit it, but I love the atmosphere of working at a dot-com again.
I've been reading feverishly lately, consuming a couple books a week. I presume this might settle a bit once I start working. One of the books I recently read was Uncommon Arrangements: Seven Portraits of Married life in London Literary Circles 1910-1939. Thank you Sarah. It was fascinating and proved a couple things to me: a) people never, ever change, b) the poly community is always going to be plagued by batshit crazy artistes and c) that whole idea about brutal honesty absolving you of any moral responsibility was proven to be a failboat almost a century ago, kthx.

frostwalrus is coming to visit this weekend. brienze is having a party Sunday, and I should really think of something awesome to bring. My birthday is next week. I am super excited because greygirlbeast is writing a short story based off an idea I emailed to her awhile back, which is a nice birthday present from the universe.
