kukla masha, kukla misha
Jul. 9th, 2008 07:34 amAround 3am, I go to bed after work and checking my email. I spend a couple hours tossing in the dark, trying to get comfortable. Reluctantly I concede that I can't sleep lately without taking the Ambien. However I can't take it now, because Mike is supposed to wake me at 8:30am to slice marshmallows. At 6am, I give up and go back downstairs.
Ah marshmallows. Apparently I completely blocked the knowledge that humidity will interfere with their setting, despite noting yesterday's sticky weather. The marshmallows were impossibly sticky and there was no way I could carve out individual pieces without losing half the batch. So at 6:30am I'm in HEB looking for brownie ingredients, because I think at least I can use the marshmallow cream in brownies. It's got a nice buttery vanilla flavor. I buy a can of Rockstar to bolster my spirits as I'm disheartened by the marshmallow fiasco.
I don't know anyone else who can say they were up at 7am baking two kinds of brownies and listening to Ivanushki International and Russian rap music. Thank you Professor Garza, for ensuring I would never forget one of Russia's goofiest boy bands and their song "Кукла." (The music video has scratchy sound, while the live performance just has odd costumes.)
