My cherry pie is almost done baking. The house has that lovely "just starting to turn golden" pastry smell. I also invented a punch! This I am terribly pleased with, as it was a total lark. I juiced four or five pounds of grapefruits yesterday. When I made the cherry pie, I used sour cherries that were pitted and packed in water. When I drained off the water, it had a small cherry taste and was bright red. It was a little less than a cup, so I threw it in a saucepan with a cup of sugar and heated it til boiling. Then it cooled, and I mixed it in with the grapefruit, and mixed that with ginger ale. Voila, grapefruit ginger punch.
Sometimes I am awesome.
This afternoon we visited Donna from
Street Cat Rescue and her completely, totally awesome cat habitat. It's a garage that was converted into livable space, with a huge screened/meshed in porch with lots of ledges for kitties. So many kitties! We wanted Pumpkin to have a friend and it made sense to get a cat he already knows. This time Mike got to pick, and so we brought hom
Jasmine. The picture does not convey how amazing her eyes are - they are so pale and luminous like small green moons. She's hanging out in the library and Pumpkin is asleep in the closet. Hopefully it will easy as punch and pie.
