On the list of things to be thankful for this year, a verdict in the case against Lori Drew. She was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of computer fraud by creating the fake profile and sending message that ultimately drove a thirteen year old girl to hang herself in her bedroom closet. While I could only wish she had faced more serious charges, I am not a legal scholar. I'll be glad there is something to charge that woman with, and that the community will hold her accountable for her actions.
This isn't vengeance. This is some sliver of justice for the Meier family. Vengeance would be demanding Drew's daughter kill herself.
Jesus wept, but what the fuck just happened in Mumbai? Some new super terrorist group, not our usual suspects? Ugh.
We saw Quantum of Solace again last night, so we could take Mike's parents to the Drafthouse. The South Lamar location has added this summer's "bat wings" to the regular menu. They are basically chicken wings fried up in a soy sauce laced batter and served with plum dipping sauce, reminiscent of buffalo wings. So salty, and so delicious. I sopped up the last of my sauce with some of Mike's fries.
There is so much awesome stuff happening at the Alamo in the next month - Mike and I celebrate the anniversay of when we met this Sunday at the Lord of the Rings feast. They are going to some awesome movies like Love, Actually, and have an all you eat mini burger showing of Harold & Kumar. One night they have a Cool Hand Luke and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Awesome. I'll be in the theater all month!
