I removed myself from the LJ Idol community today, because I have no taste for any of it anymore. I know I brought it on myself by participating in any way - I get that. I signed up for something that masquerades as a writing contest, and involves being able to write, but is also modeled after 'reality' television and courts drama. I thought I could play along for a bit and not get burned. In retrospect, it was dumb. I get that. The fact that it is now conflated and aggravated with the fandom wank just killed it for me.

I couldn't even believe the "rm eats babies vote for brightflashes" icon I saw today. What the fucking fuck? It sounds minor but that on top of all the cruel things I've seen thrown around in the other wank sort of tipped it over the edge.

Fuck all of this stupid bullshit.
