Jun. 7th, 2009 07:06 pmI made french toast for lunch today, with real maple syrup. All those years I thought I didn't like it and I was actually only ever eating fake pancake syrup products. Such a huge difference. The toast came out pretty nicely. Homemade french toast and iced coffee = happiness.
Robots are useful but cold and cannot love you. Cats are the opposite - useless but full of love. So Mike observed this afternoon while I was running the Roomba and Scooba team in the library. I also loaded the dishwasher and scrubbed the bath tub.
Most of the afternoon I've been hacking away at tyring to put together a mock up for a newsletter, for a proposal I need to finish. I am hampered by not having any good software. While Adobe Acrobat is only $300... sigh. I need a useful free/cheap WYSIWYG editor to make some html pages or pdfs. Open Office has failed me. While I worked up something reasonable, it refuses to save as html without garbling everything together.
Lately we play Carcassonne a couple nights a week. I found an edition with several expansions in one box, so we use a couple and play hours long games of giant maps. It's fun. Though I seem incapable of holding the rules in my head as far as scores. While I was once an avid and excellent Risk player, I'm not any good at chess or many other strategy games.
