Dec. 13th, 2009 09:58 pmI am a big fan of Bad Lieutenant with Harvey Keitel. So it was with some serious trepidation I went to see The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans this evening at the Alamo Ritz. (I figured any horror could be softened with careful application of alcohol.) The pre-show is especially entertaining because it contains numerous clips of Nicolas Cage screaming and cursing and generally being completely over the top insane. Then it goes to an entirely new level of crazy during the movie.
It is so weird. It makes me think it would be something I would have watched with the journalism boys in high school. Definitely not a sequel, and apparently there was some bad blood between the director of the first film and this one over the title. One could argue similarities, but really when you draw corrupt cop characters there's only so many ways to go about it. It's a very different film but contains very weird similarities.
My foot aches, and I've started to wonder if I did something more serious to it. I think it's just paranoia.
Slippers were acquired this afternoon. They are warm.
I covet Maru's new fish pancake shaped toy.
It's starting to get late and I should be trying to relax. But all I want is caffeine and a cigarette. I haven't wanted a cigarette this badly in a long time. But I have none and they are twice as expensive as when I quit, so it seems infeasible to start again. This doesn't make me want one less.
