The air is wet. An hour after my first shower I had to take a second one. Just getting out of the car made my glasses fog up and I wasn't even running the AC much at all. Just enough to keep from fainting in the humidity.

Crazy storms the other day flooded the farm where my vegetables come from. They called and said they would try to deliver on Saturday. I was sort of hoping to use those for our grilling party Saturday so I don't know now if I should go buy some vegetables or not... hmm. I acquired some various bits and things today, including some cups and beverages. Tomorrow I will buy the steaks and work on Mike's cake.

Jasmine is snoring loudly. Cat snores are funny.

I'm having that "I can never clean enough to make the house clean" moment. It is a little exhausting. Also, we really need to trim Jasmine and Pumpkin's nails before this weekend. I don't want any accidental kitty claw incidents.

Feeling guilty about the chores I abandoned my lj entry for thirty minutes to do some minor cleaning. I also emptied the Roomba and put it to work. I really need to mop the kitchen floor. But I'm trying leave that for last, since I still have to do laundry. Oh crap. Laundry.

Go Roomba go! I really love our Roomba.

We ate at Kerbey Lane for Mike's birthday, and I had their 30th anniversary lemon poppy seed pancakes. They were fantastic.

New sandals acquired. I am expanding my horizons and wearing silver/white sandals.

I just realized I forgot to buy corn. Argh. Added to tomorrow's shopping list. Vegetables and meats. And hamburger buns.

Watching the finale of Top Chef Masters. It makes me crave sushi. Why does every chef always make something with scallops? I'm not complaining because I love, love to eat scallops. They are delicious and can be eaten in a billion delicious ways. I just wonder what exactly it is about the scallop that makes them the chef's darling in the kitchen.

I need a Top Chef scallop only cookbook. Hah.

Also, watching Susur Lee in this episode made me all warm and glowing inside when he talked about his first wife and how much he misses his best friend, and about his second wife and his family. His food looks so fantastic to me. I want to eat at his restaurant. I am disappointed that Susur didn't win.

There was a lot of amazing food in this episode. It makes me think I need to eat at Wink again. Mmmm food.

So, I have a pretty irrational fear of water that isn't crystal clear. Despite this, I do enjoy swimming in the lake. However the entire time some tiny part of my brain is screaming in complete terror about what sorts of things might actually be in that water. The only reason I swim in Lake Travis is that I've been going there for years and I feel reasonably certain there are no giant evil water monsters.

This is one of the coolest roadshows the Alamo has ever done, and they are doing it again. They are showing Jaws on Lake Travis, and you're going to watch while floating in an inner tube on the water.

It is really one of the most bad ass things. But I will never be able to make myself swim again if I go. You know there's going to be some Drafthouse employee scooting around in the water to scare the hell out of people.
