My neighbor is washing his car. Again. How often is it really necessary to wash one's car anyway? In other annoying car news, I made the mistake of coming home during school traffic hour. Now I totally think school zones and reduced speeds are necessary. Most of the time I don't even notice the elementary school down the block. The problem are the utter morons picking their kids up from school. They tend to line up in this long snaking car chain around the block, and fine there's room for that. Except this one lady in a big silver SUV decided she was going to cut into the line from my street. So the lady is stopped perpendicular to both lanes of traffic, blocking everything. She's obviously waiting for someone to move along in the line and allow her to cut in there. So she's blocking TWO lanes of traffic. Really? She couldn't drive around the block and join the end of the line or wait or do anything that didn't involve blocking an entire street? I was so angry, because of course this is preventing me from actually turning on my street and getting home. What a fucking moron.

In non-angry news, I used my psychic powers to compel friend Stacy to have lunch. So much delicious sushi and gyoza. We talked about crazy medical things and state budgets and there was even a trip to buy bloodworms for her fish where we visited some birds. Pretty fun times. Lunch party, woo.

The census shows nearly a half million people moved here in the past decade. I am not imagining that traffic on Mopac looks ridiculous these days. I feel better knowing that.

Our fucking moron of a governor wants to slash education and sex education. That's great Governor Good Hair. I'm sure that will help us with being the number one state for teen pregnancy with some of the absolute worst test scores in the nation. He's refusing nearly a billion dollars in federal money for the schools because they want to require him to use it on schools and not plug up other parts of the budgets. (Which is what he did last time they gave him money for schools.) SERIOUSLY, THAT IS FUCKING REPUGNANT. I get that you dont' want that big scary federal government to tell your pretty state what to do, but Jesus riding a raptor to the second coming, they are talking about closing some of the only well performing schools in the city because Perry refused this money. They are laying off more than a thousand people here in Austin alone. FUCK YOU RICK PERRY. FUCK YOU CRAZY STATE GOVERNMENT THAT MAKES BONEHEADED DECISIONS LIKE THIS. If the government is handing out stimulus money for certain projects it does not seem unreasonable to me that the federal government should be able to say "This bag of money is for schools and this bag is meant for roads and this bag is meant for health care." The educational crisis in my state breaks my heart. We are failing so badly here.
