Because it is the weekend and the air is on the verge of smelling like summer, I decided to reread something I hadn't touched in a long while. I remember reading Snow Crash in the early 90's, when I was a teenager with a membership in the Science Fiction Bookclub. Oh to be fourteen again and to look forward to our magical, light filled future. It is lovely to find the story is still engaging and fast paced, a sensory pleasure to move through those words again.

I have a $25 gift card to the bookstore burning a hole in my virtual pocket. I am thinking about getting Stacy Schiff's biography of Cleopatra. She wrote a breath taking biography on Vera Nabokov some years ago that burned a hole in my heart and inspired a voracious desire to read biographies. The delivery folks are holding my copy of Cat Valente's Deathless hostage until Monday, curses.
