royal tiaras

So yesterday there was a media frenzy over the wedding in Britain. Oh monarchy, so strangely irrelevant and still interesting after all this time. I would be a liar if I said these things didn't interest me somewhat. That tiara! What a beautiful piece of work. What a beautiful dress too, and how completely fucking refreshing to see someone with some sleeves. Everyone looked so happy. Given how grim and terrible the world feels lately, I find it hard to begrudge anyone the enjoyment of the occasion.

Also, the cakes - the best part of a wedding in my opinion. (For my second wedding I totally skimped on ceremony and bought two cakes instead. We wouldn't have even had a ceremony except that Mike's parents clearly wanted to be there.) I love that the cake had hundreds of sugar flowers and there was clearly an intent to work in the language of flowers. Fantastic. If you're going to have a royal princess wedding, you might as well go all the way.

All in all yesterday was pretty awesome. I got to look at all the photos of the royal wedding, ponder their cakes, go our for sushi lunch with Stacy & Eric, spend some mad money in Lush on bath bombs and foot lotion, have La Brissa for dinner, watch lots of Daily Show & new episodes of the Office and Pioneer One. Now I just have to do some cleaning. My plan to spend the day in pool might be curtailed sine it is cloudy. If it is cloudy it should be raining damn it. I wouldn't be so annoyed if it meant some rain came to help the drought.

ETA: The cartwheeling clergyman may be the best thing ever.
