May. 11th, 2011 05:16 pmI hope the storms come soon. The waiting is tiresome. I swam in circles in our tiny pool for a little bit, then half assed some chores. This morning my work was hundreds upon hundreds of Ticketmaster reviews, each more frothy and ridiculous than the last. At least we seem to have broken the cycle of rage pissing Pumpkin was engaged in lately. I suspect one of the wandering neighbor cats pissed on the porch recently, or perhaps he witnessed the eating of a bird from the library window. (Whichever cat ate that mockingbird left some gory chunks of feathers.) But some Feliway and some cleaning and a new cardboard barricade design seems to be winning the war for us.
We've finally planned out our trip to Monterey, securing numerous hotel reservations and writing down confirmation numbers. Our initial idea of staying in a hotel right up by the canyon was shot, since we failed to book early enough. But then we found this place that runs a train up the Canyon and back that looks much more comfortable and will provide something a bit more fun for Mike's birthday. Plus I am a sap for historic trains. The first time I visited Arizona and Colorado, we rode the old train that runs between Durango and Silverton. I mostly just want the excuse to hang on the platform on the back and feel the air moving as we trek along.
Outside the wind is fickle. I'll probably start working on dinner. I've been ravenous the past two days.
Currently reading a collection of stories by Jay Lake. It was in my mystery box from Subterranean Press and I'm really glad. This alone would be worth the price - It's a lovely book and has introduced me to a new author that I'm enjoying.
