this is me, making a confused face at you
May. 25th, 2011 04:04 pmLast week I went to the eye doctor for a check up, as Mike found someone right in the neighborhood who is awesome and takes our insurance. They have the Optomap machine and it doesn't require dilating your eyes. While my overall prescription had only changed slightly, my eyes were deemed to be quite healthy and the visions of my retina were textbook perfect.
But of course, since this is me and I am a wellspring of weird, there is one bizarre thing. I have just the slightest amount of astigmatism in my left eye. For most people astigmatism happens reliably along the horizontal axis or the vertical. Mine is oblique, which means it runs diagonally. We tried a week with one toric lens in the right eye and a regular one in the left, but it just didn't work. So now it is toric lenses for both. At least my vision is now excellent. I need sunglasses.
With my new contacts I can see everything. So I bought a vest. It was on sale.
We were going to see Napoleon Dynamite in the park this evening, but it was cancelled around lunch time. Apparently people called the city and/or the Parks group hosting the screenings to complain about some word being offensive (really?) and so it was cancelled. What is HILARIOUS is on the page where they make this announcement there is a photo.. of 1200 people watching Napoleon Dynamite in the park a few years ago. Sigh.
It's hot and humid and there seems to be no hope for rain.
My birthday is Friday. I'm hoping for Squishables.
Also, What the fuck should I make for dinner is my new favorite thing on the internet. It wants me to cook scallops, lots of scallops.
