Sep. 19th, 2011 03:13 pmI am nicer to people in the grocery store. Part of that is that I enjoy grocery shopping for some reason. The other part is that people often behave in such incredibly rude and bizarre ways at the grocery store, I feel compelled to shame them by being gracious and kind. Which is sort of passive aggressive and weird, I know. But it is satisfying to me, to know that I'm attempting to be a little kinder than my impulses tend to make me.
I bought some microwave meals and packaged snack things, because Mike is working overtime again this week. I also bought shrimp and I'm thinking about making some beans & rice with them. I resisted the urge to buy all the candy ever, as the Halloween candy aisle is in full swing.
The light has shifted. During summer the sunrise as seen from the living room moves to the right and light floods the southern facing windows in a very particular way. But over the past week I've watched it slowly start moving back and I know that means the season must be changing. (Not that you can really tell, in the bright hot air.) But I hope that it means autumn might show up after all.
