Atlanta vacation with Sarah
May. 12th, 2014 08:19 pmAside from the horrific travel experience which resulted in us missing our dinner reservations for Thursday night, Sarah and I had a great weekend.
I miss being able to just hang out with her. She's one of the few people who I feel completely comfortable being my terrible, terrible self with. We have similar senses of humor, and we are the ranking members of Dead Dads Club. So we spent the weekend eating things, watching movies and television and being snarky. It was the best sort of vacation.
We went to the World of Coca Cola, cause I love food history. You get to see all kinds of historical and foreign advertising which is amazing. I love. Plus all the various world Coke products you get to try. Why don't we get melon Fanta?!?! Seriously there are all these delicious Fanta flavors! I drank so much soda this weekend that I'm shocked I didn't immediately break out in zits on the spot. I also wanted to buy some absurd Coca Cola merchandise but I settled for tshirts with Russian Coke advertising.
Over the weekend we watched four movies - Deep Blue Sea (oh god just not good despite Tom Hiddleston's naked thighs), Avengers (always good), Bernie (since Tiede was just paroled to live with Linklater!) and Only Lovers Left Alive. The last we saw in a theater and it was just what I wanted. The soundtrack is gorgeous and haunting, the colors were glorious and everything about it just felt like a balm to some melancholy corner of my soul. I loved it so hard. Definitely something I will buy so I can watch it when I need it.
We also watched a lot of absurd television - Bob's Burgers, Bar Rescue, Inkmaster, Tattoo Nightmares, Tattoos After Dark and the first installment of the absurd new version of Rosemary's Baby on NBC. Sometimes all you want in life is to sit around, eating burrito bowls and watching television that makes you feel better about all your life choices. There was a LOT of delicious food in our weekend - take out from Whole Foods, doughnuts, frites!, super brunch, Oreos, pizza, etc. I never get excited about pizza but that stuff was amazing.
Holy shit Revolution Doughnuts. I've never had doughnuts that good. We shared five and were full for hours and hours. Dark chocolate, orange pistachio, apple fritter, caramel bacon and blueberry doughnuts of such heft and exquisite flavor. I don't want any other doughnuts now.
We cuddled our Squishables and made fun of the cat and stayed up late and drank a lot of coffee and everything was nice. I wish Atlanta was closer to here.
