Yes, it's something I've always felt quite strongly about. If one is going to take an animal of any kind, one should have the knowledge to take care of that animal properly.

Especially in the case of dogs and other animals that require training. They are animals, glorious animals. Just because we consider them domesticated doesn't mean they're harmless as stuffed toys. They're muscle and bone, teeth and sinew, strength and instinct, fantastic creations. People need to acknowledge that and learn how to work with these animals.

Must... suppress.. urge to rant.... ;)
