Jun. 2nd, 2002 12:44 pmWhere do you go when you're lonely?
One of those random moments wandering HEB, where I have an epiphany and things seem to rock ever so slightly.
You can't depend on anyone else to make you happy. And I heard that voice as clear as day, beside me. So I bought some flowers and came home.
Saw my mother this morning. She gave me a pair of diamond earrings. They're lovely, sparkling like water caught in my hair.

Date: 2002-06-02 11:14 am (UTC)and as for the "you can't depend on anyone else to make you happy"-- have you seen about a boy? it raised some interesting arguments on this i thought. maybe you can't DEPEND on it, but you probably need other people to be happy. humans as "social creatures..." or something.
but in a pinch, the grocery store works for me :)

I would agree that people are social creatures, and that contact is in some ways essential. But I've been thinking about this, and it seems that one can't depend on the actions of others. One needs to create happiness within, above and beyond what others can bring.
