it's quiet now

The rain, the persistant trill of a frog somewhere outside my window, and my own restless dreaming kept waking me at intervals throughout the night. I dreamed of many things, of visiting New York again, of driving and running through the streets, of losing and finding my friends in clubs, of Reive's strange new apartment, so full of levels and stairs and odd nooks. I woke up at five this morning, disoriented and with a racing heart. I piled the pillows around me and practiced breathing very slowly until I drifted off again. In the last dream, I was traveling with Gene, but we had to conceal ourselves many times because someone or something was following us. At one point, shortly before we reached whatever safe destination we needed, we were dressed as magicians, waiting for a train. We kissed and I hoped no one would see us and blow our cover.

I've never set out to consciously control them, and it's rare that I do realize during the dream that it's not real. I feel so often as if I'm dropped inside a movie screen. Sometimes I have trouble telling the difference between the dream and what is real in the morning.

Your writing's really pretty, even if it's just about little things like this.

Just a random thought.

At 3:30 today, I was trying to keep the rain from soaking my book while I read on my porch. But I've been told I have a twin who wanders around Austin sometimes... several of my friends have seen her.
