beware of hungry squirrels
Feb. 1st, 2001 10:16 amDuring my third semester of Russian, I would often sit outside before class under my favorite statue and eat my lunch, do homework, watch people, etc. One lovely day, I noticed a bold squirrel skittering around near me. Foolishly I paid it no mind as I studied dative case expressions and verbs. In my left hand I was idly holding my half eaten apple. This squirrel climbed right up to me and took my apple out of my hand. I was just watching it out of amusement not expecting it to actually yank my apple away. It then proceeded to sit down a few feet away and eat the rest of my apple. To this day, my Russian professor asks me to tell this story and laughs uncontrollably at me.
