Entrance exam this morning, and Hana would kill me if she knew I have forgotten all my indirect object stuff, and pronouns. I fear I did poorly. The opening ceremony was entirely in Czech, and I was rather lost. I understood the part about Masaryk and why they named the university after him, so I suppose that is something.

Had a couple beers with a group of young Germans, all over here together to learn Czech. My roommate is German. There are a lot of students here. Some from Sri Lanka, one from Afghanistan, some from the Netherlands, tons of Germans, some French, some Slavs, and other random people. I wonder about the kid from Afghanistan, about how one winds up wanting to learn Czech while living there, and if it was hard to get here. I heard an American woman make some nasty comment, and I wanted to smack her. Most of the people are young, but there is a smattering of older people here for unknown reasons. It is very easy to feel like an ugly duckling amongst all these slender foreigners.

Called my mom and begged her to send iced tea bags. I miss iced tea, profoundly. Also migas and thai food. Large drinks with ice cubes. I am tempted to buy a coke in McDonalds just to get some ice. The weather is fairly nice. The trees are lovely. Going to find coffee today.

McDonalds doesn't put in ice either. They have iced tea, people order ledovy caj all the time. Just drink more beer.

Damn. Well, at least that means I can avoid McDonalds.

Um, do you remember the ledovy caj? It is Lipton in a can. Yuck. Better than nothing, but still. My purist heart quails at the thought.

I did think of you while I had many a Pilsner last night.
