everything counts

USAA has been helpful beyond belief. What a great company.

The nightmares are still present. But I suppose this is really no different than usual. It is hard to sleep when the sun comes up so bloody early and directly out my window. We have a tiny balcony, and it makes me dizzy to stand out there. But it is a good place to dry the clothes I wash in the sink. There is no laundry room here, and I never thought I would pine for Komenského Kolej til now. At least the shower is better. If I did not share it with three others, I would sleep there in the dark.

The net cafe is my haven. I can smoke in here, have something to drink, and read the news. Blistered feet today, because I wore my old shoes yesterday and decided to walk about six miles or so. Today I found the ice cream place Gene told me about, and had strawberry almond goodness. The ice cream here really is fantastic.

Ice cream and soap make me think of Hana and last summer. I bought some strawberry soap at Botanicus yesterday, and a little fish-shaped loofah.

School will be six days a week, 9am to 2pm. There are extra phonetics classes, which I dread, some lectures and some films. I think I will go see the films, if nothing else.

Went out last night with the Germans again. But it is very lonely still, because they do not speak a lot of English, and mostly I follow them around, ghost-like. One of them is interested in bruning copies of my cd collection however.

However, in the past two days I have been mistaken for a German, a Romanian and a Russian. (And complimented on my excellent English) Everyone is quite puzzled at my lack of Texas accent. I am too.

Hopefully when classes start I will be too busy to fret so much.

It's nice to see you still posting even all the way from Brno. The long days will make up for themselves with short ones in the fall and winter. What a horrific experience you had in Frankfurt. I'm glad everything is ok now. . . it just takes awhile to get used to sleeping in a new bedroom, let alone another country.
