Well, Bjork's character ends up going to prison. (It's a twisted, sad story.) She gets sentenced to death, and the end of the movie is about her final hours on Death Row, all the way up to the point where they hang her. It's fucking horrifying, and brilliantly, beautifully filmed. It is a grand film, and I think it's one of the most powerful things ever. I literally did sob my way through the final fifteen minutes, because her knees give out, and she can't stand up in the death chamber, and even one of the guards is crying... so yes, it ends with her death, and that's when I screamed.
