threeplusfireWe drank coffee and played cards. When I wear my cowboy hat and walk down Guadalupe, strange men smile at me and throw compliments. It is truly a bizarre experience, but it does make me smile.
Melynda is stressed, and there is little I can do to change the causes. Fortunately, my company is more often pleasant than not for her, so we're hanging out watching shows on people who hang out in uranium mines because they think it makes them healthier, people who chase yetis, haunted houses and the ridiculous loop of cable news. We're laughing and eating cake, playing Minesweeper and reading.
I will miss her this weekend, but I'm glad she is getting some time away to visit her friends up there.
I have to go through my pie recipes. I'm going to Houston on Monday, and spending Thanksgiving with Melynda's family. It should be exciting. I haven't had a family Thanksgiving of any sort in years and years. I remember once that Patrick wouldn't invite me to eat with his family, but I could "come over for dessert." It hurt my feelings at the time, but I think I'm letting go of all that pain.
