Spent a lovely evening at Hana's house, keeping an eye on the boys. They're so docile and calm because we play video games for hours which they aren't usually allowed to do. (This is why I'm the favorite babysitter, and apparently the only one they ask for anymore.)

Hana fed me, lovely pea and onion soup, with fruit salad and lemon poppy seed bread. Mike gave me a beer, and wants to have a homebrew party with Gene. After they came home, Hana and I talked about the coming drums of war, North Korea, and education. Her youngest boy Patrick has some rather peculiar and unusual learning difficulties. In some ways he is brilliant, even though he struggles with subtraction and learning to read. It's very interesting, and worrying Hana to no end. I promised to do some research on the subject.

I adore Hana. She's such a beautiful, noble, fantastic and brilliant woman. What I would like to be one day. Her husband Mike is funny and cute, and the boys are great kids. I wish I could spend more time with them.

My heart is soothed by such simple things.
