look me in the eye
Sep. 5th, 2003 08:21 pmWhat a day.
A week of many packages. Suicide Kings and The Animatrix arrived, but even better was Samantha's package! For she is great and thoughtful, and has sent me a Stalin for my bathroom, a postcard with a view of the Peter & Paul fortress in St. Petersburg, and a book of Russian folk tales with illustrations by Bilibin! (And lots of bubblewrap for Alan to pop.) I will curl up in bed tonight and read stories and sigh over the pictures of woods and men on horses and strange beasts. There is even an owl on the cover. I really must get a package of Texas goodness all together for her, especially since I have so many boxes.
Alan got a gift card at work this week, so we spent it at Borders where I pretended to be a student so we could get a 20% discount. Also picked up a strapless bra to wear with the wedding dress, lots of new underwear in neat colors, and we arranged tuxedos for the men involved in the wedding party. Alan is going to look fantastic, with silver ascot and vest. I can't wait.
We took a day off work, for many mental health reasons, and it is a relief on many levels. Made some serious decisions about the wedding, about our life, and it's going to be okay. Just keep saying that, and it's going to be okay. Because I'm happy now.
Going to see The Order in an hour, and hopefully it will be good.

Date: 2003-09-06 10:10 am (UTC)I feel bad buying graphic novels at the bookstores and not at the comic book store, but they are a little expensive and 20% off helps. I was so outraged when I saw Cages in Borders recently. You would not believe what I went through to buy it for John's Christmas present a few years ago when it was out of print. I'm glad it's back, but it should have been back years ago!
Love
Samantha
