blue light television
Oct. 7th, 2003 02:12 amOn the evening news there was a five minute bit about a woman murdered in an apartment complex a couple miles from where we live. The neighbors called the police this morning because they heard a loud argument. Police found the woman dead and her five year old child shot. They had a picture of her, and she does not look all that different from my upstairs neighbor.
Late night television is evil. The Ricki Lake show is about eleven to fifteen year olds working as prostitutes in suburbia. It makes me want to retch. Regardless of how I feel about the sex industry, that's too goddamned young to be working in it.
The combination of these two things, my headache and a long day have given me a hollow, pained feeling.
Not to mention the latest monstrosity from the Shrub administration. Marriage Protection Week? What a bunch of bullshit.
We must support the institution of marriage and help parents build stronger families. And we must continue our work to create a compassionate, welcoming society, where all people are treated with dignity and respect. Oh? Well perhaps for starters we shouldn't be so limiting about what marriage is, maybe we shouldn't deny people the right to choose who to spend their lives with, maybe we shouldn't be denying people the right to raise children and be parents, and just maybe the damned government should get out of all our bedrooms!
Fuck you Shrub. Shove that sanctimonious piece of paper. If there's any justice in this world you'll be eaten by zombies.

Date: 2003-10-07 09:12 am (UTC)In the meantime, we could just salt the earth...that kills off plants pretty quickly, keeps anything from growing again...potted plants just might do a better job...at they very leat, they're easy to depose.
ok, i'll stop being wierd now

Date: 2003-10-07 11:25 am (UTC)I'm think we should go with fruit trees next time around. Maybe a nice pear? Or orange? Hell even a pomegranate would be better than the shrub.
