we wake and then we fall

Our long long weekend is over, and we must go back to work. How much do I not want to go. Alan is still sleeping, a side effect of vodka and Half Life. I'm picking up the leftover glasses around the house. It's still mostly clean in here. It would be nice if it stayed that way a little longer.

Rach will be here in nine days. Neat. Now if I can figure out where we shall all sleep, and keep the apartment semi-clean. I am thinking I will drag her to the big Tree of Lights in Zilker, just because. Surely it will be on by then, as I can't remember when they do flip the switch. But anyhow, I like spinning around under the tree.

So strange it is already December. I must be old for time to go so fast. In two weeks I'm getting married and that's just a bit weird. Honestly, it doesn't seem real. But I think almost everyone has their costumes fitted and altered, and we all have shoes now. Joan said she will bring mini quiches, which I think is good. Mini quiche! Something to look forward to that I don't feel the need to worry about. I worry about everything else.

If this journal sounds disjointed and dislocated, I think it means only that my head is overfull of disparate thoughts.

Nah, not my boots. Mine are laced and zippered. And not quite so shiney.

I am sure the sleeping arrangements shall resolve themselves more than once, and be ammenable to me pretty much no matter what (I mean, I won't be on a bus).

I was just thinking, my bed is not quite big enough for two people, much less three. I knew I should have put a giant bed on the registry. But there is bed, and the futon mattress, and the sofa, so there are lots of places. Lots of blankets too.

So far the weather is looking pretty good. It was int he seventies today.

As a warning, I have a new job as an editor that means working form 6am to 8:30am EST some days, so I'll be up early on teh computer doing stuff and then re-crashing.

That's cool. I usually have the laptop on in the living room. And six isn't so long after we usually go to bed.
