That is the cutest thing I've ever read. When I was that age, I thought that if I slept on my back, whatever was hiding under my bed couldn't get me. I'd somehow started associatin the phrase "stabbed in the back" with the monsters under the bed. If they were going to get me, I'd decided, it would be a big knife in the back. But I'd fool them, and sleep stomach side up so they'd have to leave me alone.
