New York City, by They Might Be Giants

"Cause everyone's my friend
in New York City
And everything looks beautiful
When you're young and pretty"

I remember singing this song in cars in high school, when we were at our most carefree.

I remember hearing that song shortly after 9/11, and it stopping me completly in my tracks. I love that song.

Think of yourself as wandering in that Biblical desert til the Orange Cat appears to guide you...

I do too. It's one of the best love songs ever.

I agree with you on the song ;)

Now not too many people are allowed to open it because I promised my friend that I wouldn't crash his site *L*

That song always makes me a little bit homesick.
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see

That is a great song. Although the version I know and love best is the TMBG version, I do feel the need to point out that it's a cover - the song was actually written by a Canadian, all-female band called Cub. Their version is pretty good too and probably findable on Soulseek or Kazaa or something. TMBG changed some of the lyrics and generally just made a really joyful version of it.

I did not know that. Thanks for the random knowledge.
