I love memes.

Peel back the onion skin layers of these stories and what exactly lies at the center? I could tell you about the time I was driving home from Metro in the middle of the night, cold air, windows down, and how sure I was that in the very center there was a diamond bright kernel of myself.

But it makes very little sense outside of the moment.

Anyhow. Work is good. My new supervisor complimented me on my production, I have a chai latte, and I can see the sun. Once I stop feeling zombified, life will be peachy.

In the meantime, memes. Ask me any three questions and I will answer. It would be good to know I'm still capable of honesty.

1. I started reading Dostoevsky in high school, and quickly became fascinated with Russian literature. I was also passionately interested in the history and politics of Russia/the Soviet Union. In college, I decided to forgo the French and take Russian for my foreign language credit.

2. For me, RPGS are a chance to be creative. Character development is something I love to work with, even more so than plot. I enjoy the chance to fabricate an entire existence which I will never truly have. For me, a lot of it is the aspect of lives not my own, of looking at situations through different eyes.

3. I met my husband at the office about this time of year last year. We took smoke breaks together with Brett. I think Alan and I started actually dating sometime in May, and it just sort of snowballed. Getting married was the last thing I expected to happen, but it was the most delightful surprise of my life.

1. Looking at my wedding ring, and contemplating all that it has brought to my life. Barring that, eating one of the delicious meals prepared by my husband chef. ;)

2. That would definitely be working and supporting myself through college, and not acquiring any debt. It was brutal at times, but I learned how to be self reliant, how live on a limited income, and how to balance my responsibilities.

3. The Miracle Game, by Josef Skvorecky. One of the most beautiful books ever written, and one of the top reasons I fell in love with Prague.

The old dinner party saw- if you could invite any eight people/historical personages/fictional characters to have dinner together, who would it be, and what would you discuss? (Note that we'll assume they all speak English, although you're still responsible if they stab each other with the butter knives ;)

The equally old "if I were President..." one: What would you most be attempting to push through Congress as President Tsarina? Also- assuming you inherited the situation as it stands- how would you handle matters in the Middle East?

An update on same: if you were Tsarina-for-life, who would be first against the wall, and who would write your national anthem?

Most definitely available in English! Pick up a copy today. It is a novel that revolves around a story of priest and a miracle at a small village church, during the Communist years. While it contains many references to other stories, it can be read on its own. This was the first Svorecky novel I read, actually.

Dinner Party: Peter the Great, Vladimir Nabokov, Dostoevsky, VI Lenin, Rasputin, Catherine the Great, Blok and Victor Pelevin. We would discuss Russia, and what happened. Not responsible if Nabokov stabs or kisses Dostoevsky.

If I were President, I would fight tooth and nail for massive education reform. I think I told Melynda she could be Secretary of Education, and I would have her assemble a team from both inside and outside the US to help formulate the new plan.

If I were Tsarina for life, the first people against the wall would be all those who campaigned against gay marriage rights. Then I'd get Howard Shore to write our new national anthem.

What do you love about Texas?

What do you hate about Texas?

Did you go to your high school prom?

1. No - I don't think reality and reason are so well connected, personally. But then, I'm one of the last people you want to ask about reality.

2. Shooting offenses of my new regime:
- willful stupidity
- child abuse of any form
- reckless or intoxicated driving
- telemarketing, spammers, mass mailers
- abuse of power

3. Let's talk about naptime! Or laying on the floor in sunny spaces. Or the secret languages of birds.

1. I love the sky, the open spaces, the flowers in spring, mild winters, Tex Mex, cows, and highways through nowhere.

2. I hate the poor education system, the rampant ignorance, and the governor.

3. I did indeed. I wore a white ballgown and my hair like Jackie Kennedy and pearl earrings.

1. What is your favorite drink at Metro?

2. What is the first movie you saw in a theater?

3. Describe your dream home.

1. My favorite thing is the iced vanilla hazelnut coffee. Nine times out ten, that's what I'm drinking. Greg used to make me a lot of crazy concoctions when I was in school, and I also like the iced almond.

2. The very first movie I ever saw in the theater was the Transformers movie. I kid you not. My dad took me.

3. Ahhh. It would have very large windows, to let in lots of light at certain times of the day, and high ceilings. Tiled stone floors, most likely. An enormous kitchen with Sub Zero and Kitchen Aid appliances, granite counters, and a bar. Bathrooms with both tubs and showers, both extra large. Some kind of balcony/deck/terrace, a yard and a pool. It would be decorative in an odd mix of modern and antique furnishings. At least five bedrooms, no doubt.
