that's a lot of bandwidth

diepunyhumans.com just hit its bandwidth limit, it seems. Which means I've done at least 5 gig in traffic in 24 hours, I can't be arsed to do the calculations right now.

We broke the internet again.

In case you're curious, here is my piece as seen on Ellis' site. When it comes back up later, go check out the other stories.

------

Glass in one hand, she leaned back against the fridge. Rain thumped from time to time against the window. Marcus sat still, watching her from a kitchen chair. Anna returned his gaze, conscious of the watery shadows.

"Sometimes I wish you didn't follow me around," she said quietly.

Marcus shrugged.

"You have your uses."

"What do you want?"

"A trip to the desert," Marcus hissed.

"You can do your own breaking and entering just fine I'm sure." Anna turned away and set the glass down carefully inside the cabinet. Her fingers brushed over metal and wood.

"But you know exactly where we are going, and that makes it ever so much easier." Marcus' voice was sharp in her ears.

"I've told you, I don't do that anymore."

"This time you do," he interrupted. "You want to see what's inside just as much as I do."

He didn't even have the grace to look surprised when she pulled the trigger. That bothered Anna more than anything else about the whole business.

Congrats! No idea if mine made the cut or not in reality -- I sent it in "late" -- I totally forgot about [livejournal.com profile] mistersleepless being in England because I am one of those dense Americans with no awareness of the rest of the world. However, I saw him mention in a comment that he was evaluating stuff he saw when he woke up on 'Saturday' (our friday) so maybe my thing got to him. I'm not sure. I think some people got 'you didn't make the cut' emails, which I didn't so I dunno. I wish I had remembered what time zone he lived in in any case. I don't feel bad because it was good to write my piece as I haven't been able to do much with all this work stuff I've been reading up on for a more complicated project. Also, I'm not sure my thing is to his tastes anyway.

In any case, hearty congratulations on getting published on his site. Warren Ellis is a very talented and you are justly proud. Presumably many people will see your piece once it comes back alive again. :)
