the not very tall mountains

I went to the Cactus Cafe and saw Druha Trava tonight. I never thought I would find myself liking a band with a banjo and a mandolin, but damn they were brilliant. The guy who played slide guitar rocked my world. They're billed as a Czech bluegrass band, and I haven't enjoyed a show like that in so long. It felt good, even though I felt old and alone in a crowd of students I didn't know anymore.

I got them all to sign the cd I picked up, and I'm happy.

On the way back to my car, some young black kid who couldn't have been more than seventeen or eighteen tried to mug me. I couldn't fucking believe it. I shouted at him that I would kill him if he laid a hand on me, and fortunately there were two or three other random people in the Co-op lot. So my would-be mugger ran away and my meager amount of cash and sanity was safe once more. I'm really fucking angry about it though.
