You should read this post, because it says what I have been thinking.

The most pressing issue in politics is not red state vs. blue state or south vs. north or liberal vs. conservative. It's ignorance and intolerance, and one of the things I hate most about the group that I associate with is its tendency to act holier-than-thou while berating conservatives for acting holier-than-thou. - Kira, who is a smart cookie all around

It offends me to think that our hard work down here is now so easily discounted just because everyone wants a scapegoat. All these red vs. blue stuff just seems like another way for the media to disenfranchise and set people against each other -- by setting the liberals from mostly liberal states against the conservatives from mostly conservative states and disenfranchising people like us that voted for liberal candidates in conservative states by rubbing in our noses how little our vote counted or, apparently, acting like we don't exist at all. Y'know, I went on a massive defriending rampage today, spurred on by yet another hardcore liberal making cranky posts based on some really ugly and stereotypical assumptions about southerners. Not everyone I cut was guilty of that at all -- but that's how it started. I'm getting so fucking cranky. I know we're headed to hell in a handbasket, but ultimately every one of us is fucked, not just Democrats. So maybe we oughta try being good to each other for a while.

yknow, i didn't -- what address did you use? i've been having some email drama lately and i've never been *quite* sure it was all resolved. the LJ address should resolve correctly if nothing else...
