Ask me questions about the wizard Meier. Ask me anything. It would be nice. Perhaps it will jump start my brain. My writing burns in fits of inspiration on a single word.
To begin: Meier is about 17, about 5 foot 10, and of average weight. He has blonder hair, just long enough to be pulled back in one of those oh so hot Edwardian boy pony tails. It's a sort of dirty blonde, and his eyes are grey. Tending a bit on the pretty side of things. Very much like the fellow in my icon. Quiet, prone to outbursts when overcome with excitement. Has a tendency to ask too many questions and be a bit oblivious when focused on a book or magic. Loves books, libraries and boots.

I'd like to know about Meier's parents, actually. Any information you have about the environment he grew up in, the traits they passed to him, his relationship with them...anything you can think of! :)

Meier's parents - that's actually the prologue to the novel. His mother was a lady in waiting to a country noblewoman who came from another country. No one ever knew who Meier's father really was, though there was some speculation that it was the noblewoman's husband. It was more likely another servant I think. His mother was accused of witchcraft, another thing which may or may not have been true. Servants and peasants whispered that the lady in waiting bewitched the noblewoman to be barren, or that she stole the child for herself. Whipped into a frenzy by the local priest, they ended up taking the poor woman and burning her at the stake. The noblewoman was heartbroken, as she had been close to her maid for years and years. Before she went mad, she made certain the child would be raised in her household by some of the other servants. Meier has little to no memory of her, as he was barely six months old when she died.
From his parents he inherited his blonde hair, his average height, his paler skin and a talent for magic. So perhaps his mother was a witch, but I doubt she used her powers to harm her mistress. If anything, she would have tried to help her concieve and perhaps would have even given her own child to help the noblewoman. I still haven't figured out who his father truly was.
Meier was raised by the servants, mostly the cook. They didn't have a close relationship, as the cook wasn't very interested in children. However that did give Meier lots of time on his own in which to discover his love of books and his magic. The noblewoman alos made certain Meier learned to read, and he even shared a tutor with the daughters she had later on in life.

At first I thought the noblewoman, but it couldn't be if she was truly grieved at the lady's death.

The lady in waiting knew a bit of magic, mostly simple charms and she didn't recognize it as "real" magic. She was trying to help the lady concieve on her husband's rare trips home, and another servant saw her preparing a little charm or potion for her mistress. Gossip has a way of spreading.

Really, I think Meier is and not just because of my own preferences. It's just something I feel in the character.
