internet at the speed of my imagination

Have I mentioned how kick ass Grande Communications is lately? Well they are. I found a note in the mail today that informed me my internet speed would double if I flipped my modem off and on, at no charge. There was a time in my life where 8Mbps down was but a fairy tale. Just the thought of it makes me giddy!

Wow, that's pretty damned awesome. Cablevision (my ever so loveable provider) would never do that. :) I'll just have to settle for 5Mbps down. :(

It just blows my mind. Ten years ago I was thrilled by dialup and the modem sound of doom. ;)

Grande is competing with Time Warner, who just went up to 5Mbps. But Grande is such a more humane company.

It must be really nice to have competition. Is Grande cable too? All we have for high speed internet in this area is Verizon for DSL and Cablevision for cable. As dastardly as Cablevision can be, the service is great and I've had maybe a handful of outages over 4 years. It should be interesting when Verizon lays out all that fiber optic cable around the country and competes with cable. Hopefully that competition will be good for everyone.

Grande is cable. They offer cable, internet and phone services in various bundles or you cna mix and match. I love them. My internet has only died twice in the time I've used them and it was brief. They were started as a company to bring these services to more minority areas around the Hill Country.

That sounds great. :) That's another example of why the government shouldn't be allowing all these mega-mergers to happen, but watch, I'm sure Time Warner will make a bid for Grande at some point and ruin all that.
