Do not use your child as a shield when your partner/spouse hits you. This isn't going to make the person stop hitting you. It's only going to put the child in danger.

Telling your 5 year old that she has to protect Mommy from Daddy's fists? Holding the baby up in hopes that you won't get hit? Expecting your 8 year old to defend you from your abusive spouse? Worst fucking idea ever.

I wish I could tell you this was a joke. But I seriously hear this shit way too much and it really makes me wonder about the people out there.
