Because of geography, weather and politics, we don't have lots of city equipment to handle ice and freezing weather. So what might be a mild winter day in Washington shuts everything down for us. There are road closures in the Hill Country, and half the traffic cameras are useless due to ice. There's ice all around outside, so I'm not going anywhere. I've been up for two hours and the temperature has only shifted a degree to 23. I don't trust my ability to get across the bridge and up the hill, and certainly not in my new car. Last night's skid freaked me out a bit.

So... ice day! Whee.

Cold, cold. It's the sliding glass door, I suppose. My laptop keeps me warm instead. I didn't want to get up this morning, from my strange dream about going to see the new James Bond movie with my date BD Wong. Clearly, I am watching too much SVU.

Oooooo, ice day! Sounds like one for pajamas, quilts, hot cocoa and cheesy movies. Ready?? GO!

...and you won't have to take leave either; I just called before I left and they said now that all offices are closed for the day! Woo!

Good for you! Even though the weather advisory ended at 8am, it doesn't look any less frozen out there to me.

VIVA LA ICE DAY!!

you people are weather wusses :)

the roads up here routinely get icy to the point where I have to work to either avoid or get out of a skid on the way home from school up here, and that doesn't stop them from making me go to class...
