the weight of dreams

It only took me a pathetic twenty minutes to get my contacts in this morning. But on the upside of that, I think I've discovered a way to get them in with less fuss. Hope hope hope. It's a good thing I'm not working today. I wore them for about four hours yesterday, so I'll try to wear them longer today. I really wish I could find my silver sunglasses. I love those things.

I've had a lot of weird nightmares lately. They are all about Alan, about the old apartment. I'm trying to get something out, something I've forgotten, before he comes home. Last night in my dream he tried to rape me. It's all awful stuff. I wish they would stop, that this would just purge itself out of my system.

Last night I wrote for awhile in bed, beginning the story. I know how it starts now. I know how the structure of the thing will be. Now I just need to do battle with dialogue.

Don't feel bad - when my mom first got hers (going on 8 years ago or something, now), she'd get up two hours early to make sure she had time to put them in. Now it takes her maybe 30 seconds, presuming she can find them to begin with ;)

That is me today, up two hours before work! Hah. It took less fuss to get them out last night, so here's to hoping for improvement.

Everyone I know who has switched from glasses to contacts says there's so much more freedom of movement and field of vision that they'd never go back.
I've only worn the decorative sort myself, and lord, those are horrible. They itch.
I just got my first real pair of reading glasses (I had some in HS I rarely wore) - they're for reading the tiny breathing marks in Greek text.

It really is quite remarkable how much better my peripheral vision is with these. It makes driving better, certainly. It is ao fantastic to be able to be able to just see things. To wear sunglasses while I drive!

It only took me fifteen minutes today!
