Something has nearly killed my plant. It ate half the plant and stripped off most of the remaining leaves. I'm remarkably upset about this. What the hell climbs up and eats hibiscus plants? Squirrels? Raccoons? I don't know. But I'm unsure how anything else could have gotten up here and chewed down the stem. Damn it.

Could be squirrels. The ones in our neighborhood are rabid; they climbed up the fire escape and buzzed down our christmas cactus to death. It looked like a lawnmower ran over it. My dad even bought a little pellet gun and shot at them, and they didn't even blink. We have to make sure we never leave the door to the garden open without someone there, otherwise they actually come into the house and steal fruit from our kitchen.
