The cat woke me by howling outside my door, and is now racing madly around the apartment. *sigh*
I did walk naked out onto my balcony, my theory being that no one ever loooks up and there are only trees out there anyway at this time of day. Something about the light, the smell of the air, the fast moving cloudshanging grey and thick against the pale high sky... it reminds me of all the mornings I woke up for UIL tournaments, every trip, every moment of nervous anticipation, always up too soon, that sick feeling in my stomach that keeps me from eating too much, craving peppermints and hazelnut sodas... I swear the air even smells exactly the same. For a second, I was sixteen again.
It's real now. I am getting on a plane in ten hours and tomorrow I will be celebrating my 21st birthday with Hana in a restaraunt in Prague. I will be walking in the streets Kafka walked in, where Galileo came to study, where the Prague Spring and the Velvet Revolution happened...
I have made it so far.
Forgot to mention two days ago that I bought a copy of The Virgin Suicides for $5. I think I'll put that one and watch it while I pack up my backpack. I think it was the first movie I saw with Keith. I remember being late to the theater, amd sitting in the Arbor seats where you can move the armrests at will. How he came in later when he took me home, and we sat on my living room floor talking, and he teased me for being a college student in Austin who didn't know where to buy marijuana. I remember.
