fuck you, sir!

I just saw a commercial that in any other universe would have been an SNL parody. It was bright, glossy shots of rich people rolling in money, and cuddling up to their pool boys. The voice over warned the viewer that Internet Neutrality was just a scheme by "big Silicon valley companies to make you pay more for your services." Um, whickey tango foxtrot? Fuck you cable association that paid for this absurd propoganda. What jingoistic crap.

Question: are you opposed to Net Neutrality in general, or the ad specifically?

Just curious.

I'm opposed to the advertisement that is such a blantant attempt to manipulate people on a serious issue! I think internet neutrality is important.

I'm also really curious as to why you think I would be opposed to net neutrality based on this post. I called the add absurd propoganda and jingoistic crap, and compared it to a parody sketch. I'm not sure that any of that indicates I support their point of view.

Hang on, I didn't mean to imply I thought you were opposed to it (that's why I asked: for clarification purposes only); your post could have been read both ways, and I wanted to make sure I was reading it the way you intended it to be read.

I'm still confused though - what in this post could be read as support for the anti-neutrality campaign? If I was unclear somewhere, I'd like to know so as to avoid that sort of mistake in the future. I'm bad about being too clever in writing sometimes and obscuring my meaning, so I try to stay conscious of that.

It's nothing specific that I can point to and say "this sentence could be misconstrued" but more of a general tone. Your post could be read in one of two ways, IMO:

1) fuck you cable association that paid for this absurd propoganda -- you're obviously trying to manipulate me into being opposed to NN.

OR

2) Fuck you cable association that paid for this absurd propoganda -- your thoughtless manipualtion is ruining it for all of us who are opposed to NN for legitimate reasons.

Because I didn't know your position when I read the post (could be my fault for not reading past entries), I didn't know which way to read it.

Okay, thank you for the clarification. It is good to know. I try to stay on top of being clear, but lord knows after all these years sometimes it is a bad habit.

I hope I didn't offend you. It was an honest confusion regarding your position. For the record, I'm an ardent supporter of protecting Net Neutrality. I'm a fan of OpenSource, and against Digital Rights Management of any kind. :)

Big companies generally hate me as a consumer.

No kiding! It was seriously the weirdest thing I have ever seen! I saw it while watching the Travel channel I believe.

Net neutrality: doubleplusungood

Sounds like some great post-modern doublespeak.

It was like seeing one of the four horseman. Seriously creepy.

Have you seen the new commercial for the toll roads? It seriously made me want to take a shower.

The ones with the animated cars? They are on the same level! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh.
