I went to work without my cell phone or cigarettes, and hence I'm about to just lose my temper with the universe because I want both of those things right now. On the upside, I was able to use my supervisor's phone to call my insurance company. Let us hope the damage to my windshield is repairable because I can't afford to replace the entire windshield right now thank you very much.

If you're playing along at home, something the size of my fist struck my windshield in the pouring rain while driving on 183 this morning. The sound was incredibly loud, and I am surprised I didn't let go of the wheel. The damage doesn't look too bad from an objective standpoint but of course I am freaking out because it's my car. The sound scared the hell out of me, and made my hands all shaky.

I'm glad you're okay. That sounds like death.

Egads! Even when something the size of a dime hit my windshield I freaked. Glad you're ok.

That sucks. I flinch when little things hit the windshield. You are a brave lady...but I guess you already knew that.

I had to replace my windshield last year and I think it was only a couple of hundred dollars. Not a fun expense but it would be worse.

I am glad you are okay. *hugs*

Yikes. I'm glad you kept control.

I once threw my arms up to protect myself and ducked when a balloon hit the windshield. Thank God I was in the passenger seat.

I know what you mean. The SLAM! from when I had my accident a few years ago is still echoing in the back of my head.

Most insurances cover winshilds even if it has to be replaced.

Given, I've been driving around with a huge crack for almost three years (which yes is illegal) because of he BOTHER involved.

They're going to cover the repair, but my deductible is a chunk of change that I just don't have right now. ARRR!

Stupid glass.

is your deductible MORE than the repair would be? it costs just over 200 dollars to replace my entire windsheild. when i was at the window place last, (for the boston side window shoot out window), the man was telling me i was lucky i didn't have a saturn...however, he still said that would be under 500 dollars. our deductible is 500 dollars. just something to think about (don't want your insurance to go up toO!)

If you look around, many places have specials that cover the deductible ($100 off car windshield replacement!). That's how I got mine done for free.

well, I must clarify that when I had to look around, it was in the DC metro area. I found a few places that offered it, including national online services that sends someone out to your car. I didn't use one of those, tho.

A bug hit my windshield this morning with a little splat, and I screamed. Thank heavens I was alone in the car.
