nuclear flash bang

I dreamed about war, and about a city that was all cities I have ever been inside. Everyone was out with the soldiers in the streets, and ordinary people were throwing bricks down the advancing avenues. I had a little plastic bag with a toothbrush, and saline solution, and a dozen packs of various cigarettes. (Hah, my care package for the end of the world) towards the end, I booked it up four flights of stairs to find someone, and the air raid sirens went off. I fell down on my knees, and it felt as if all the oxygen was sucked out while the world went white.

So I imagine dying in a nuclear war.

This dream comes up from time to time. I first had it when I was eight or nine, and reading creepy apocalyptic fiction and observing the slow death of the Soviet Union and Iron Curtain on television. I have this dream from time to time, always the same except for the faces and minor details. I've dreamed this so much that I honestly wonder if it is real somewhere out there.

I don't want to move afterwards.

Which is why a lot of people believe that nuclear weapons are wrong.

That & they cost so much to make & maintain (& render safe when they're 'time expired') - money which could be used for constructive purposes.

I just find them exponentially more scary than most other weapons, even things like biological agents and nerve gas. Too much apocalyptic fiction perhaps.

As you may have gathered, I think they're a criminal waste of money, & human life worldwide. & that's when they're just kept in their silos!

After all, how many hospitals, schools, etc could have been funded in the UK, or US, with the money otherwise used for Trident etc?

Not to mention how much clean water, sanitation, schools, hospitals, etc could have been supplied worldwide. Then some of us wonder why the rest of the world looks at the US & Western Europe & hates us!
