Friday Night Lights

threeplusfireI'm watching Friday Night Lights, and I confess it is in part because Fox is stupid and runs baseball instead of my much enjoyed House. Damn you baseball.
But, Friday Night Lights. This show is surpisingly good. I think the acting is good, and while I don't always like the jerky camera work that seems to indicate reality to a certain set of directors, it's visually compelling. I do think that many of the angles of the shots are nicely done. There's a close, intense feeling to it.
What's really strange, and what makes this incredibly hard for me to watch, is that I know every single one of these people. I think this show is weirdly accurate in describing this life, and it takes me right back to high school. The scene of the dance recital in tonight's episode was so vividly like the one I had to attend my freshman year when I took drill team prep isntead of PE.
This is a show worth watching. This is a strange piece of life that we joke about but is often full of compelling characters.

i've really wanted to watch friday night lights, but hate the time slot they put it in. *sigh* it would probably make me homesick.
